Children’s Sunday School

The class for children (ages 6-12) is held each Sunday except the first Sunday of the month. On that day children attend the regular service with parents for Communion Sunday. Our childcare is available for every service, open 15 minutes before worship for children ages infant through five years.

Doctrine & Donuts

A weekly class on Monday mornings, Doctrine & Donuts is usually presented as a four-week series. Sometimes it is a study of a particular book of the Bible, other times it is a presentation of concepts of spirituality, and other time it is a an examination of doctrinal issues related to contemporary society.

Always on Wednesdays

These sessions are presented on Wednesday afternoons at 4:00 p.m. They are usually four-week sessions, often led by the pastoral staff. Always on Wednesdays is offered from October through April. Many times these classes are the study of a book (for example last year we studied Phillip Yancey’s book, “The Jesus I Never Knew.”

Adult Sunday School

This group meets every Sunday morning throughout the year. Studies were of both Old and New Testaments. In addition to great discussions, Bible readings, and topics from study books, the group has social get-togethers.

Leadership is by lay volunteers.

Women’s Retreats

The day-long, off-site retreats for women have been a popular experience and the reservation list is quickly filled each time. During the winter the retreats are repeated on two different days in order to accommodate the number wishing to attend. Leaders with specific expertise are brought in to facilitate these retreats.

Library

The Valley Presbyterian Church Library is operated by a committee of conscientious volunteers. Nearly 1,200 items were circulated this year for individual use. Numerous others were used in workshops, Bible studies, and classes plus many items were used in the library setting for reference work.
